My wife and I are looking to purchase an Alon A-2 or Mooney Alon A-2A, with a serial number between A-88 and B-297, manufactured between 1966 and 1968, equipped with a low-time Continental 0-200 engine, although this is not absolutely necessary. A low-time C90 will also suffice (by 'low time,' we mean either engine type should be SMOH). Looking for one that is airworthy and currently flying, or at least recently flown, with good paint and interior, well-maintained, and includes all logbooks (Pictures of which will be transferred for an extensive review). It should have all ADs completed to date, a current registration, and a Valid Airworthiness Certificate.

We are specifically looking for an A-2(A) and not an Ercoupe 415, Forney F-1, or a Mooney M10.  We are aware that many aircraft of these models are available on the market, but they are not what we wish to purchase, and we are seeking assistance from anyone willing to help us find the A-2(A) that is right for us at a fair value.

The A-2(A) will need to pass a pre-purchase inspection, have a current annual (This might be negotiable based on when the last annual inspection was performed), and the instrumentation will need to be in working order. Although IFR certification is not a requirement, it would be preferable. We are willing to pay a premium if that is the case.

We are not looking for a project plane but instead one we can take to events and be proud of when interacting with the Ercoupe family and other members of the flying community.  We want an A-2(A) that we can take on adventures on the weekends and meet new people.  We already have a hangar space that is currently empty, so it will always be sheltered and well-maintained.

Our price range is up to $30,000, but we are not willing to pay over the fair market value of the airplane.  We understand that the value of these planes is primarily based on community perception and demand, making their values somewhat difficult to pin down.  Before some individuals get excited and start sending us information on their A-2(A)s, only to find that they all seem to be worth $30,000, that would be a waste of time and effort.  If you are confident that the value you place on your A-2(A) could pass the scrutiny of being evaluated on this forum, and its value can be verified, by all means, please take advantage of this opportunity we are presenting.  This is definitely a quick sale opportunity.  This whole process should not take more than 2 weeks for the funds to be transferred to your bank account and for us to take possession.

We have certified funds, so there will be no waiting for a loan approval or a delay in the bank transfer. We will go through an escrow agent who has a proven history (AEROtitle in Oklahoma City) for the transaction.  They will require proof of identity and proof of ownership, as well as other information that will not be released to us, which the government needs to combat the funding of terrorist activity with fraudulent banking transfers and misappropriated funds.  We believe that this method protects all parties concerned and ensures that everyone receives what they are entitled to from this transaction and that no illegal or corrupt activity is occurring on either side.

The provenance of the plane will be thoroughly investigated, reviewed, and comprehensively examined. The latest individuals we were negotiating with to purchase their A-2 had supplied a substantial amount of documents, data, pictures, answered every question posed to them, and provided some of the best-kept logbooks I had ever seen. In one of our conversations, they stated that by the time the examination was complete, it almost made them feel like the level of thoroughness had, in some ways, invaded their personal privacy.  If you cannot sustain that kind of scrutiny, this is not the opportunity for you.  Unfortunately, there are too many individuals scamming people out of their hard-earned money, and this helps protect everyone involved from such a situation. Fortunately, we have not seen evidence of that happening on this forum, which is why we are not posting this to the general public.

We will require a live video call to verify the physical possession of the A-2(A) and listen to the engine run. We will require high-definition pictures, with all metadata attached, to confirm they are current. Only then will we be willing to sign a binding purchase agreement and transfer funds to the escrow agent for a non-refundable deposit to be held pending the outcome of the pre-purchase inspection.  We have arranged for Travers Insurance once the registration is transferred to us and the sale is complete.

We were most recently working to purchase an A-2, registration N5684F, advertised in Oregon. Unfortunately, we were unable to come to terms in time, and the opportunity was lost. Therefore, finding another option is now necessary.  We live in Evansville, Indiana, KEVV, so the closer the better.  However, as you can tell from above, we are willing to go just about anywhere in the United States or Canada to purchase one in the condition we are looking for.

We are looking for one plane, and only one plane.  My wife and I are not involved in the aviation industry and do not act as brokers.  We have never owned an airplane; we fly for fun.  But in the interest of full disclosure, my family used to own an FBO that held a Part 135 charter operation certificate with a Part 145 certified maintenance shop; we also brokered aircraft through the FBO, and I am a third-generation pilot. Therefore, saying that I am very knowledgeable about aircraft, aircraft maintenance, and the sales process is, in my opinion, not an overstatement.

My wife and I have just fallen in love with this little plane, and the community of owners seems to be fantastic.  We are looking forward to being a part of it soon.  We have created a dedicated email address for this transaction that is only available to registered users.  Please email all photos, specifications, equipment lists, location, and asking price to that email address, and post a picture here (or any other information you would like to share about the available plane with the community).  If you are aware of an A-2 or A-2A with the listed qualities but do not own it, don't hesitate to contact us with any information you may have. As soon as we have closed on the purchase of one, we will post it here.  We are excitedly looking forward to enjoying the skies with you in our own "Coupe" soon.
