Sure , the values will be adversely affected but the "hit" will depend on the amount of the gross weight increase . . . . the higher the increase, the more competition. I doubt the change will come any time soon . . . my guess , mid to late 2020 . . . .

JUST saw this discussion. I am not registered, so cannot see the pic/comment in the first post, but 3600 lbs for an LSA,which is what the comments are saying.

I don't think the coupe will be materially devalued..Maybe less on the higher prices..
but I think more LSA planes will make LSA more popular..
I feel our prices will remain competitive..

The FAA's not happy unless you're not happy.

Doubt anything approaching punctuality by the FAA here as well. By the time they roll around to enacting any changes, I'll have spent so much time and money improving and upgrading my plane that I won't be able to part with it. You know.......engine rebuild with O-200 crank, pistons, etc, dual Garmin G5's in the panel, re-cover and paint, split elevator, individual C-150 seats with shoulder harnesses, 450 Mhz ELT, yada, yada.

I called AOPA. They have been getting a lot of calls about possible changes to LSA specifications. He said that realistically any changes are probably 5 - 6 years away. Some committee could be coming out with recommendations late this year, but they will only be recommendations which the FAA can do with what they want.
