The carb heat SCAT duct on my coupe has a 2-inch ID, which matches the OD of the flange on the exhaust. This referred to as SCAT-8. No problem replacing what is there with the same type of duct.

I've read where some folks prefer SCEET over SCAT for intake ducts. This is because the metal support wire inside SCAT can be exposed to moisture, which can cause it to rust over time and possibly break. SCEET doesn't have this problem because the wire is embedded between two layers of silicone. Sounds good, but there's a potential issue here as well. There have been a few cases, I believe with some Piper aircraft, in which the inner layer of silicone collapsed and blocked airflow through the duct.

Just curious if anyone has an opinion one way or the other.

Thanks,

Steve

Carb Heat SCAT Duct was created by Steve Westlund
I have a C model (ser. 3621) with a C-85 and Stromberg carburetor. I need to replace the orange SCAT duct that runs from the exhaust to the carb heat box. Any recommendations on exactly what I should order?

Thanks,

Steve
